Modigliani and Picasso in Padua: The Exhibition that tells about the voices of modernity

From October 16, 2025, to January 25, 2026, Palazzo Zabarella hosts the exhibition “Modigliani, Picasso and the Voices of Modernity”. An itinerary through the masters of the 20th century and the most surprising voices of modern art, featuring works from the LaM Museum in Lille.

If you love modern art, this is an exhibition not to be missed.
The works come from the LaM – Lille Métropole Musée d’Art moderne, d’Art contemporain et d’Art brut, one of the most important French museums dedicated to modern art.
A unique opportunity to admire the protagonists of the 20th century up close and also discover the lesser-known but equally fascinating voices of modernity.

From the LaM Museum in Lille to Palazzo Zabarella

From October 16, 2025, to January 25, 2026, Palazzo Zabarella in Padua hosts “Modigliani, Picasso and the Voices of Modernity”, an event that brings masterpieces from the famous LaM Museum in Lille to Italy.

After successful collaborations with the Brooklyn Museum in New York and the Musée de Grenoble, the Bano Foundation continues its dialogue with the great museums of the world.
Curated by Jeanne-Bathilde Lacourt, the exhibition presents an emotionally rich journey through avant-garde and contemporary artists.

Modigliani and Picasso: two icons of the twentieth century

At the heart of the exhibition are Amedeo Modigliani and Pablo Picasso, two giants who revolutionized the history of art.

Modigliani is represented by masterpieces such as “Moise Kisling,” “Boy with Red Hair,” and “Seated Nude with Shirt”. These works convey his deep sensitivity and his search for essential beauty.

Picasso is represented by extraordinary works like “Fish and Bottles” (1909) and “Woman with Hat” (1942), which demonstrate the full innovative force of Cubism.
Alongside him are also Georges Braque, with “La Roche-Guyon” and “The Sacred Heart of Montmartre”, and other important artists such as Léopold Survage, Eugène Nestor de Kermadec, and Francisco Brès.

A true journey into the heart of the 20th-century artistic avant-gardes.

The Hidden Voices of Modernity

But the exhibition is not just about big names.
There is also space for self-taught artists and for other outside official circuits, belonging to the world of Art Brut and Art Naïf.

You will thus discover the intense colors of Séraphine de Senlis with her “Bouquet of Flowers”, the delicacy of Gertrude O’Brady with “The Kiosk”, and the visionary spirituality of Auguste Lesage and Victor Simon.

A path that reveals how modernity also lives in the spontaneity of those who turned art into a language of the soul.
