“Under a Sky of Wonders” is the chosen theme for Christmas 2025 in Padua — an invitation to enjoy the city during its most magical time of year. The streets light up, squares and buildings are dressed in stars, and the festive atmosphere fills every corner with lights, scents, and warmth.

Among lights and city symbols

The heart of the festivities beats in front of the Town Hall, where once again this year the great Christmas tree will shine with its 12,000 lights. The setting connects two of Padua’s most iconic landmarks: Caffè Pedrocchi and Palazzo del Bo’, the historic seat of the University. The tree-lighting ceremony will take place on Saturday, 11/29/2025, starting from Piazzetta Pedrocchi and ending at the entrance of the Town Hall. The audience will be entertained with music, lights, and performances by the Casanova Venice Ensemble and Chiara Luppi.

A live concert featuring Alexia, pop icon of the ’90s and 2000s, will follow. The concert is organized with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Venicepromex.

From December 5, the video mapping projections will light up the monumental buildings of Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza della Frutta, Piazza dei Signori, and Piazza Duomo — an immersive journey through starry skies and magical atmospheres.

Prato della Valle, always enchanting, will be transformed into a large luminous village with its 49 decorated trees and the much-awaited ice rink, accompanied by Christmas music.

As tradition dictates, the Christmas markets will stretch from Via Umberto I to the city’s main squares, filling the streets with handmade crafts, food and wine products, scents, and colors.

Christmas markets and Eremitani Village

Strolling through the markets in the city squares is one of the most beloved experiences: Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza della Frutta, and Piazza dei Signori will be enlivened by stalls, lights, and video projections that turn historic buildings into fairy-tale scenery. Warm up with roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, or a hot “vov”, perfect for chilly December evenings.

In Piazza Eremitani, the Lapland Village will return — a favorite among children — with wooden chalets, carousels, sweets, crafts, and above all, Santa’s House, a must-see for families and visitors. Here, children can even meet Santa Claus in person!

Nearby, the Giardini dell’Arena will offer a peaceful, festively lit spot, ideal for a relaxing break or an aperitif surrounded by the magic of the lights.

Artisan Christmas in Piazza Capitaniato

Piazza Capitaniato will host the Artisan Christmas, with more than 40 exhibitors from the Arti Itineranti Association. Here you’ll find unique creations in wood, leather, ceramics, blown glass, artistic jewelry, and scented soaps—original, high-quality gift ideas. Some artisans will work live at their stands, showcasing their skills to visitors.

This year, there will also be local products from Arquà Petrarca: oil, honey, jams, and the famous “brodo di giuggiole” liqueur—perfect as a gift or souvenir from the Euganean Hills.

Exhibitions, Museums, and Concerts

The Christmas season is also a great time to enjoy art. At Palazzo Zabarella, the exhibition “Modigliani, Picasso and the Voices of Modernity” continues—one of the most important exhibitions of the year.

Also noteworthy is the initiative “Everyone to the Museum”, offering residents of Padua and its province, as well as university students, free admission to the Civic Museums at the Eremitani, Palazzo Zuckermann, the recently restored Torre degli Anziani, and Palazzo della Ragione. A special opportunity to rediscover the city’s artistic and historical heritage.

There will also be many concerts: from the Amici della Musica series at Collegio Don Mazza, to the Christmas concert with the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto at the Basilica of Saint Anthony (18 December), and a gospel music concert with Nathan Mitchell at the San Gaetano Cultural Center (27 December).

New Year’s Eve in Prato della Valle

On December 31, the beloved New Year’s Eve celebration will fill Prato della Valle with music, lights, shows, and excitement to ring in 2026 all together!

Once again, Padua is preparing to offer a Christmas full of emotions, lights, and events that enchant adults and children alike.
We look forward to welcoming you to the city to experience all the magic of the holidays!
